Bhubaneswar: A two-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) led by Banking Security Fraud Cell SP Surya Thankappan from Bengaluru took Deccan Chronicle vice-chairman P.K.Iyer on transit remand today.

Iyer, who was arrested by the Commissionerate Police in the State’s capital city on charges of bank loan fraud case, will be produced before the Metropolitan court in Hyderabad within next 48 hours.

While the agency’s bank fraud cell SP Thankappan arrived in the city this morning, additional SP of the cell Biswajit Das had reached here yesterday evening to take Iyer on remand.

Source said the investigation of the bank loan fraud case will be intensified after Iyer is taken to Bengaluru.

Notably, yesterday, the Special CJM court had allowed CBI to take Iyer on a two-day transit remand. After the arrest from a five-star hotel, Iyer was handed over by the Commissionerate Police to CBI.
