CB interrogates gangster Tito's wife over 'benami' properties

Kendrapara: The special task force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch today interrogated Benazir Bibi, wife of arrested gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito.

Apart from Benazir, a former councillor from Kendrapara, Hifzul Rahman was also grilled by the STF for his alleged links with Tito. According to sources, the investigating agency wants to ascertain how Benazir acquired such property without any accountable source of income. Tito's wife was interrogated by a DSP rank officer and two women inspectors.

The investigating agency is particular keen on ascertaining various 'benami' property created by Tito through various channels including his wife, relatives and other associates.

Two special teams of the STF also visited the office of Kendrapara Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) today to examine various documents pertaining to Tito's business ventures.

Besides, probe has also begun into Tito's political connections, sources said.

Till now, CB sources have traced a luxury car worth Rs 90 lakh belonging to the gangster and have frozen over 50 bank accounts belonging to him and his aides.
