Bhubaneswar: After a successful launch of international flight operations from its airstrips, Biju Patnaik International airport is now planning to set up both national and international cargo terminals to start importing and exporting of various objects from its base.

According to an official, the terminals will be set up at the new building of Airport Authority of India in the city and the tender process to set up the terminal will start soon.

Sources said with increasing demand for products like ‘paan’ and sea foods in overseas markets, there should be a cargo terminal with deep-freezer facility for the safe-keeping of these items. Similarly, as the State is importing huge amount of electronic products and mobile phones from abroad, setting up of the cargo terminals will help in safe-keeping the imported items too.
