Bhubaneswar: Bus fare in Odisha has been reduced by one paisa to two paise under automatic fare revision mechanism following the fall of diesel price by 71 paise per litre recently.

The bus fare have been reduced for the second time after the implementation of the mechanism by the state government, a release by it said today.

While the fare for ordinary buses has been reduced from 60 paise to 59 paise per km, express buses fare has been adjusted from 63 paise to 62 paise, deluxe buses from 84 paise to 82 paise and AC deluxe buses from Rs 1.05 to Rs 1.03 per km, it said.

Odisha government had implemented the automatic fare revision mechanism on June 4 as per the demand of All Odisha Private Bus Owners? Association. Under the system rise and fall in bus fares would be determined by the rise and fall of fuel prices.

According to the mechanism, the fare for ordinary and express buses would be hiked by one paise per km if the price of diesel is hiked by Rs 2 per litre. Similarly, the fare of ordinary and express buses will be reduced by one paise per km if the price of diesel is reduced by Rs 2 per litre.

Similarly, fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses would be hiked by two paise per km if the price of diesel is increased by Rs 2 per litre. The fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses would be reduced by two paise per km if the price of diesel is reduced by Rs 2 per litre.
