Valentine’s Day: 30 Kalinga Sena activists held in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Apprehending any untoward incident on Valentine’s Day, today, Commissionerate Police detained over 30 Kalinga Sena activists and took them into preventive custody from outside their office at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar.
As per sources, the outfit had threatened to hold protests against the Valentine’s Day celebrations in different parts of the temple city and warned the youngsters to stay away from celebrating the day in any form.
The activists shouted slogans “We demand to stop celebrating Valentine’s Day” and further alleged that this celebration is against the Indian culture.
Even though the Commissionerate Police had earlier sent a stern warning to such outfits and decided to act tough on such ‘moral policing’, the activists stuck to their decision to protest and warned that they would hamper the celebrations.
Meanwhile, some of the recreational parks in the city including Jaydev Vatika, Ekamra Kanan have remained closed. This apart, patrolling has been intensified in parks which are open to prevent the agitating outfits from carrying out their threats.
