Twin city police to be on toes during Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has made elaborated arrangements for vehicular traffic management and upkeep of law and order situation in the twin city during the Durga puja and idol immersion, said Police Commissioner YB Khurania today.

Talking to media persons after a review meeting at the Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Khurania said, “Five additional DCPs, 18 ACPs, 25 Inspectors, 180 Sub Inspectors and ASI, 100 Havaldars, 400 Constables and 54 police forces have been mobilized for the festive occasion.”

In Bhubaneswar alone, 32 platoons of police force will be deployed. CCTVs have been installed at different puja mandaps. Besides, restrictions have been imposed on the entry of heavy vehicles into the capital city from 4 pm to 2 am, Khurania added.

“One-way traffic system has been introduced in Cuttack from 5 pm to midnight from tomorrow,” the police commissioner added.

Police aid posts were set up at different places. Apart from this, mobile and foot patrolling has been intensified. The Quick Reaction Team (QRT) and Striking Force have also been stationed.

The police commissioner further stated contingency plan has been made to face any contingency situations.

“The arrangements have been made keeping in view the date when Muharram and the Durga Puja will be celebrated on the same day,” Khurania said.
