Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested a tuition teacher for strangulating a woman to death last night. The dead body of the woman was found in a car under suspicious circumstances in Chandrasekharpur area here last night.
The deceased identified as P Sheela Jaya, is the wife of Anil Rajmohan, the additional vice-president of a leading liquor company. Jaya, who stays in BJB Nagar here, had gone in her car to the coaching centre of tuition teacher Rashmikant Sahu at Chandrasekharpur. According to sources in the police, a heated argument erupted between the two following which Sahu killed her. In a fit of rage, the tuition teacher first hit her head with an iron rod and later strangulated her to death.
Sahu allegedly gave Rs 100 to the driver and sent him away to have food. When the driver went inside the coaching centre after waiting outside for a while, he found Jaya lying on the floor. Though Sahu and the driver admitted her to a hospital, doctors declared her dead.
During interrogation, Sahu confessed to having strangulated Jaya to death, said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi. Jaya’s husband Rajmohan, who was out of station when the incident took place, said Sahu used to come to his home to teach his son.
Though the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that an extra-marital affair between the teacher and the woman led to the crime.
