Suspected father of 'wonder infant' detained

Jajpur: The Jenapur police today detained a person suspecting him to be the father of the 'wonder infant' Dharitiri, who was found buried alive in Syamasundarpur in Jajpur district.

Police are interrogating the person.

Notably, the infant buried alive purportedly by her parents was rescued by a group of villagers in critical condition on March 25. She was admitted to a nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

On March 26, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) had filed a filed a complaint at the Jenapur police station in this connection.
