Rourkela Steel Plant DGM under CBI scanner
Rourkela: As many as 25 officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are conducting simultaneous raids on the residence and office of Rajiv Ranjan, the Deputy General Manager of Rourkela Steel Plant’s New Plate Mill, in connection with alleged irregularities in tender process, sources said.
According to reports, the CBI sleuths are carrying out simultaneous raids at six locations including the office of Ranjan.
Sources informed that the raids are linked to the arrest of the then Executive Director (ED) (Works) of the steel plant, Prasad Verma in 2017.
This apart, the central probe agency has also raided the office and residence of noted businessman and managing director of Reliable Hi-Tech Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (RHIPL) Surendra Dua.
The officials have been accused of extending undue favour to RHIPL to get contracts and release tenders.
Verma was arrested in January 2017 after the CBI caught him red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh. During a raid, the CBI had also seized Rs 20 lakh from his residence.
