Odisha DGP reviews anti-Maoist operations in Kandhamal

Phulbani: After security forces and police killed 5 Maoists in encounter in Kandhamal recently, Odisha DGP RP Sharma visited the district today and discussed strategies to further intensify anti-Maoist operations in the district.

The DGP held discussions with Kandhamal SP, Pratik Singh on the current situation and next course of action to root out Maoists from the State. ADG (Operation), RP Koche; Intelligence Director, Sunil Ray; State Intelligence Wing IG, Ghanashyam Upadhyay and SOG Commandant, Akhilesh  Singh were also present during the discussions.

Besides, Sharma met SOG and DVF Jawans engaged in anti-Maoist operations and took stock of the law and order situation in the district.

“The recent police encounter of Maoists in Kandhamal is one of our biggest successes. I congratulated Kandhamal police, especially the security forces for the achievement,” said Sharma, who later left for Bolangir.
