Bhubaneswar: Proving their mettle again, Odia candidates have posted a very good performance in the civil services examinations conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) last year, the results of which were announced today.
As per the results, Odisha’s Ananya Das bagged 16th position in the exams while Lingaraj Panda secured 38th rank. Similarly, Kranti Kumar Pati, Pamela Satpathy and Smruti Ranjan Mohanty secured 50th, 51th and 86th place respectively. In all, 23 Odias have cleared the prestigious exams.
Other successful Odia candidates are: Sandip Kumar Mallick (102), Arunanshu Giri (132), Abhisek Tripathy (151), Soumya Mishra (177), Padmini Sahoo (199), Sushant Kumar Mishra (237), Ashish Kumar Panda (276), Satarupa Mishra (303), Nanda Dulal Das (493), Apurba Mishra (654), Anshuman Mishra (672), Sucharita Das (711), Dhiman Barai (768), Hruday Kumar Das (1,079), Sunil Das (1,161), Rajkumar Das (1,172), Pareshwar Das (1,220) and Rakesh Das (1,231).
UPSC officials said the top four ranks have been secured by women candidates – Ira Sehgal (1), Renu Raj (2), Nishi Gupta (3) and Vandana Rao (4). A total number of 1,236 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’, they added.
