Odia Athletes to watch out for at Asian Athletics meet in Bhubaneswar


With just moments left for the inauguration of Asian Athletics Championship at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, 5 Odia athletes are raring to go in front of their home crowd and could bring laurels for India.

Srabani-NandaSrabani Nanda

Event: 100mts, 200 mts, 4x100mts

After winning Bronze in the 200 mt sprint in the 2015 edition, Srabani is a strong contender for striking gold.


Dutee-ChandDutee Chand

Event: 100mts, 200 mts, 4x100mts

If National record holder Dutee is able to put in her best 100mts timing of 11.24 seconds, she will be in for a medal.


Amiya-MallickAmiya Mallick

Event: 100mts, 200 mts, 4x100mts

The fastest sprinter of India Amiya is also the National record holder in 100 mts with a timing of 10.26seconds.



Purnima Hembram

Event: Heptathlon

Purnima has already bagged a medal in Heptathlon in the same event in 2015. She would be definitely looking to better her performance here in Bhubaneswar.


Jauna-MurmuJauna Murmu

Event: Sprint & Hurdles

This year she has already bagged a Silver medal at the 21st Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championship. The Asian Athletics Meet is the perfect setting for her for another medal in front of her home crowd.
