Cannes/Bhubaneswar: Nandita Das who is promoting her upcoming film Manto at Cannes Film Festival is making a bold fashion statement sans any sweeping train dresses or Swarovski studded gowns. She is rather using her signature style and turning heads with Indian handloom that she carries effortlessly.
The filmmaker with Odisha roots is at the Festival de Cannes which is underway from May 17 till May 28. Das is meeting producers for her film with the lead stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rasika Dugal.
Keeping it simplistic as always, she made an appearance in a gold and peach saree and looked elegant with her hair folded into a bun and handcrafted Indian danglers for earrings. The Anavila Misra saree was one of the many classic looks.
She was spotted in yet another handloom from the same designer in a charcoal kurta and a tassar stole that looked chic yet comfy.
Short tops, silk sarees or block print kurtis, the actress turned director has flaunted it all at the Cannes Film Festival becoming the trailblazer for Indian handloom at the red carpet event.
Last year too Das wore some stunning Indian attire mostly from designer Swati Garodia’s Sartorial.
Her white embroidered and sequined maxi dress from designer Purvi Doshi had also caught eyes during her 2016 Cannes appearance.
