Bhubaneswar: Dr Sudeep Satpathy, Associate Professor of Physiology in Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), has been selected as sports medicine doctor for 2016 Rio Olympics.
He is the first doctor from Odisha to join the Olympics.
Satpathy has been selected by the Olympic authorities on the basis of his performance and experience in the field of sports medicine.
An MBBS from VSS Medical College, Burla, Satpathy has done his Diploma in Sports Medicine from International Olympic Committee (ICC). He is also a Member of the prestigious faculty of sports and exercise medicine, Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Ireland.
He was also the team doctor of the Sachin Tendulkar owned Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League 2015.
