Bhubaneswar: The Empowered Committee on Infrastructure (ECI) on Tuesday cleared proposals for the construction of six hospitals and houses for economically backward classes (EWS) in the capital city.
Officials attending the meeting said, of the four proposals approved by the ECI, the hospital project will be built under PPP (public private partnership) model. At a later stage, modalities of the Rs 424 crore plan will be framed, they added. The meeting was chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi.
While the hospitals will have a total of 800 seats, at least 359 beds will be reserved for the BPL (below poverty line) card holders.
Similarly, as many as 1300 low-cost houses will be built for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the society.
The Committee has also given a go ahead for the construction of 23 rice storage godowns in the State.
The officials stated that the ECI has also granted a proposal for plying of town buses in Balasore town.
