Body of ex-councillor of Khurda found hanging from tree

Khurda: Body of an ex-councillor of the Khurda Municipality was found hanging from a tree in the middle of a farmland in Bhaliabadi today.

The deceased has been identified as Narayan Chandra Pradhan and was former councillor of Ward no-9.

Supporters of Pradhan alleged he was murdered somewhere else and hung from the tree to tag the death as a 'suicide'. The body was found hanging with feet touching the ground. No injury mark was found in Pradhan's body which was tied with a plastic rope at the neck.

Besides, the spot is two km away from Pradhan's house. Sources said absence of any vehicle nearby and presence of a mobile phone in his trouser pocket make the whole episode suspicious.

He was muddled in controversy after a revolver was recovered from his house and had been absconding.

The Khurda Town police have reached the spot and initiated a probe.
