Bhubaneswar: Two days after being appointed as the vice-chairman of the State Planning Board, BJD leader and former minister Bishnu Das has resigned as Rajya Sabha member.
He has tendered his resignation to the chairman of the Upper House. “Ï have tendered my letter of resignation to Rajya Sabha chairman Md Hamid Ansari last night. It is only party supremo and CM Naveen Patnaik, who will take a call on my replacement in the Upper House”, Das told OTV.
He had earlier said that he drew attention of RS chairman in this regard as the Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board is a post equivalent to a Cabinet rank.
The Jagatsinghpur district president of BJD was on Saturday assigned the job. Party president Naveen Patnaik also entrusted him with the job of convenor of BJD SC Cell on the same day.
The post of vice-chairman of the State Planning Board was lying vacant after the resignation of MP N Bhaskar Rao
