ASI team to inspect Garbha Gruha of Puri Jagannath Temple tomorrow

Puri: A technical team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will inspect the Garbha Gruha (sanctum sanctorum) of Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri on Tuesday, informed chief of the technical core committee NC Pal today.

Director (Monument) of ASI and officials of the temple will also accompany the technical team, said Pal.

The team will also inspect the Nata Mandap of the temple following the remarks of Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb. In an exclusive interview to OTV on June 24, the Gajapati king had expressed resentment over Nata Mandap's condition.

Regarding safety of the Sri Jagannath temple, the Gajapati had said, “Full-proof arrangements should be made to ensure that the temple is safe and secure even after the Rath Yatra gets over.”
