Bhubaneswar: With an aim to strengthen the party in Odisha and chalk out future course of action, Congress State in-charge Jitendra Singh, three newly-appointed AICC secretaries and a joint secretary for Odisha met in New Delhi on Monday.

According to reports, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan also met Jitendra Singh and AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation Ashok Gehlot to discuss party affairs in the State.

Sources said, as per the decision taken in the meeting, Jitendra Singh will hold discussion with senior party members from Odisha in next two days in New Delhi. The party would announce the names of district and block presidents thereafter.

“Party members from Odisha should work at grassroot level to strengthen the party organisation. All of us must follow the directives of AICC President Rahul Gandhi for development of farmers and backward section of the society,” said Anil Chaudhary, AICC Secretary.

Meanwhile, Congress legislators have welcomed the appointment of new AICC secretaries yesterday. But, the MLAs rued about the delay in bringing changes to the Pradesh Congress Committee.
