4 teams formed to nab accused servitors: Puri SP
Puri: Trouble mounted for the servitors on the run, who allegedly assaulted Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal during the Niladri Bije of the deities in Puri on Sunday night, after the district police on Thursday formed four teams to nab them.
Briefing newsmen, Sarthak Sarangi, Superintendent of Police (SP), Puri, said, “We have formed four teams – two in Bhubaneswar and two in Puri to arrest the servitors who are on the run.”
“We will issue warrants against the servitors if they do not surrender within the given period of time. Necessary steps will be taken to attach their properties if they don’t appear,” Sarangi added.
Reacting on the development, Agarwal said, “I thank everyone for lending their support to me. Police is trying its best to arrest the accused servitors.”
“The police has already arrested six servitors for attacking journalists and has formed special squads to nab the absconding servitors. The action taken so far has been satisfactory,” Agarwal said.
“I am happy that everyone wants the rituals of the deities to be performed on time,” Agarwal added.
