Jajpur: As many as four anganwadi workers have been engaged by the district administration for nursing of the new born baby who was rescued alive by locals of Shyamsundarpur two days back.
Official sources said, the anganwadi workers have been asked to attend the infant 24X7 on a rotation basis. The infant girl, currently undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital under the supervision of the District Child Protection officer, is reportedly responding to the treatment.
On March 25, she was rescued by the locals and was later named ‘Dharitri’.
Meanwhile the district police have launched a probe into the case after registering a criminal case. The District Child Protection Officer has already filed a complaint at the Jenapur police station regarding the matter.
Jajpur sub collector Narayan Chandra Dhala said, “The district administration has decided to bear all kind of responsibilities of the girl infant,” adding her naming ceremony will be held at the Biraja temple on April 14.
