BMC Corporator, builder nabbed over Ramesh Jena link
Berhampur: Police on Wednesday arrested Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Corporator R Murali Mohan over his alleged connection with arrested former Congress MLA from Sanakhemuni Ramesh Jena.
According to reports, the police have also arrested two more persons, including a builder Buna Sahu, in connection with Jena’s real estate business.
Mohan, Corporartor from Ward No- 5, who was detained three days ago, has been arrested after sustained interrogation.
Both the Corporator and Buna were involved in the Gandhinagar real estate scam, police sources said.
Besides, the police also detained Kanian Jena, another aide of the former MLA, who is now being interrogated at an undisclosed place in Bhubaneswar.
Kanian was believed to be taking care of the former Congress MLA’s tender business apart from working for an inter-state gang.
Police have so far seized five vehicles belonging to the former Congress MLA, together worth more than Rs 2 crore, from different parts of the State.
Notably, Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi has written to the CBI to probe Jena’s alleged links with the Green India chit fund company, which had gifted a luxurious vehicle to the former lawmaker.
