Block-grant teachers resume work
The school staff and the students were enthusiastic about the reopening of the schools after such a long gap. The teachers also expressed concern over the studies of their students that were badly affected due to the strike.
However, the teachers decided to take extra classes to cover the syllabus in time.
This apart, the parents and guardians of the students also expressed joy as the teachers resumed their work.
As many as 25,000 teaching and non-teaching staff of 1983 schools had been on strike demanding fulfillment of their proposals. The demonstrators called off the strike on Sunday only after School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena had reassured them to look into the issues and take steps to bring out a solution.
The agitating staff, however, warned the government that they would resume the strike if their problems would not be addressed within seven days.
