Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the general elections in 2019, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is leaving no stone unturned to promote brand Modi in Odisha by highlighting the developmental work carried out by the Centre in the last 4 years.

The party workers are trying their best to convince the voters that the state government has failed and has only taken credit of the work done by the centre.

As an innovative approach, the party leaders have launched a door to door campaign of putting stickers of Narendra Modi to highlight the achievements of the party.

“The state government is shamelessly trying to take credit of the development work that has been done by the BJP-led government at Centre,” said senior BJP leader, Suresh Pujari.

“We are trying to reach out to the people to understand how much they have been benefitted from the schemes rolled out by the central government,” added Pujari.

The promotional program was kicked off in Sambalpur on June 10 by Dharmendra Pradhan and a target of meeting at least 15 beneficiaries in each booth across the state has been set to promote brand Modi.

BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “With the report card of achievements in 4 years of Modi government, we are reaching out to our workers and senior citizens of the state.”

Meanwhile, both BJD and Congress have slammed the BJP government’s sticker campaign in the state.

Refuting the allegation levelled by BJP, government chief whip and BJD leader Amar Satpathy said, “The state government has not taken credit for centre’s work, however, it is part of the development work started by the Centre.”

Similarly, AICC (All India Congress Committee) Secretary, Biswaranjan Mohanty slammed the BJP for highlighting their work done using public money.

“BJP should not take credit for the work which has been done using public money,” said Mohanty.

BJP's attempt to highlight their achievements in the state had begun last year when senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar had said that the so-called flagship programme of providing rice at Rs 1 per kg to the poor by the Naveen Patnaik government is primarily sponsored by the Centre.
