Bargarh: Police arrested BJP Yuva Morcha secretary, Irashish Acharya today in connection with a firing incident on June 1 in Bhatli of Bargarh district which had left one person dead. 

Acharya was arrested after interrogation by the police today.

According to sources, Town Police brought Acharya to the police station yesterday and started interrogating him as directions from the Bargarh Superintendent of Police, Mukesh Bhamu.

On the other hand, Acharya termed his arrest an act of political vengeance. "They are planning to muzzle my voice by putting me in jail which is not possible. People know who the real culprits are and who is innocent. I have full faith on the judiciary and believe that I will get justice," Acharya said.

On June 1, shots were fired inside the residence of Acharya during which one Bulu Satnami from Chamarpada under Sohela police limits died after being hit by a bullet in his head. Police had recovered a pistol and bullet shells from the spot.

Bargarh Additional Superintendent of Police, Jashobant Senapati said, "Acharya was arrested after interrogation and he has been forwarded to the court for his involvement in a murder during a meeting at his residence on June 1."
