Bhubaneswar: Questioning the discrepancy in the amount of gold collected from the ‘Hundis (donation boxes)’ of Puri Srimandir and the amount deposited in the bank locker, BJP has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court today.

In the PIL filed by BJP State vice-president Samir Mohanty, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry has been demanded into the missing gold weighing 3.75 kilos.

Senior Lawyer Pitambar Acharya said that in last 18 years, not a single meeting was held by the Temple Foundation Fund under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.

In the petition, it has also been cited that police is not registering a case despite an FIR while 10 people along with the Chief Minister have been accused of being partial.

“We had filed an FIR before the Vigilance Director on the missing gold but no action has been taken till now. As we have no hope of an impartial investigation we have filed a PIL in the High Court,” Acharya said.
