Bhubaneswar: With the state-run telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) deciding to relocated 110 2G and equal number of 3G telecom towers to Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, BJD legislators launched a protest in front of the chief general manager’s office.

Notably, the corporate office has directed the Odisha telecom circle to relocate the towers. Surprisingly, while there is a requirement of 300 more towers in the State shifting 220 BTS and node B towers has drawn the ire of Odisha lawmakers.

There are about 2,777 telecom towers in Odisha. Another 423 were being planned by the month of September this year.

Meanwhile, Bijaya Nanda Mishra, the CGM of the Odisha telecom circle said that such relocations are normal.

However, protesting BJD MLAs have also written a letter in this regard to the Union Communications and Telecom minister.
