Bhubaneswar: The annual Banichitra film and album awards to recognise noteworthy performances and contribution to Odia cinema and television were given away at a glittering function at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar on May 30 on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of Odia film magazine, Banichitra.

Noted dramatist, lyricist and screenwriter, Bijay Mishra was honoured with life time achievement award for his contribution to art and cinema.

Mishra is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore award in 2012 and was also selected for the Sahitya Akademi award for his book 'Vanprastha' in 2013.

Eminent personalities from film, theatre and jatra fraternities along with popular faces from television attended the event.

A total of 57 awards in different categories including art, literature, cinema, plays, dance, song, TV sops and social work were presented during the occasion.

Former Finance minister, Prafulla Chandra Ghadei graced the function as the chief guest and also inaugurated the special edition of Banichitra magazine. The award presentation ceremony was followed by a cultural evening with dance and music performances by artistes.
