Atul Kulkarni to star in movie based on Wedding Gift Blast case

Bhubaneswar: Bollywood actor Atul Kulkarni, of the ‘Rang De Basanti’  fame, has been roped in to play the role of Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra in the upcoming Odia film ‘Patnagarh’ based on the real life wedding gift blast case.  It will be Kulkarni’s first Odia film.

The first-look poster of the movie was released by the film’s producer Sridhar Martha here on Wednesday. “We approached Kulkarni with the offer and after going through the script, he instantly agreed to play the character,” said Martha.

Popular Odia actor Manoj Mishra is playing the character of Punjilal Meher- the mastermind behind the blast. “The movie is being directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajesh Touchriver and will be made in Telegu too.  Shooting for the film will begin in July and is expected to hit screens around Dussehra this year,” informed Martha.

The craze for the movie is evident from the manner it has been received by netizens.

“Posters of the movie have gone viral on social media. This reiterates the fact that good movies will always have takers,” Martha said.  Meanwhile, the makers are trying to rope in the best professionals in the industry to ensure that the movie lives up to expectations of the Odia film lovers. Patnagarh will be produced under the banner of Range Royal Cine Lab.
