Bhubaneswar: Air India has suspended its operations to Bangkok from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) from July 16 till October 3.

Moreover, Air India has also suspended its flight operations to Bengaluru from Bhubaneswar.

Even as the exact reason behind the suspension of the services is yet to be ascertained, it is believed to be a temporary move on account of unavailability of aircrafts following diversion of flights in view of Haj pilgrimage.

Informing media, Bhubaneswar airport director, Suresh Chandra Hota said "The Air India authorities have not divulged any exact reason apart from stating operational causes behind the move. They have also not given any details on resumption of services. We have all the infrastructure and facilities ready but it depends on the management of the airlines."

"The suspension of direct flights will definitely pose a problem. We hope the operations will resume soon," said a passenger.

Asked about the matter, Odisha Culture and Tourism Minister, Ashok Panda said that the issue will be looked into after discussions with the concerned authorities.
