Bhubaneswar: Over two lakh candidates are appearing for the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) MBBS entrance examination that began in 155 centres including Odisha on Saturday.

The online examination (computer based test) is being conducted in two shifts per day (9 am to 12:30 pm and 3 pm to 6:30 pm today.

The examination is being conducted in seven centres in Odisha including one each in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Balasore, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Rourkela and Sambalpur.

Official sources said, the test is a gateway for admission into MBBS courses at AIIMS New Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneshwar, Rishikesh, Raipur, Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) and Nagpur (Maharashtra).

The exam will be conducted on May 26 and 27 for nearly 800 available seats in several institutes in the country. The results are expected to be announced in June.

The candidates had started to make a beeline before the examination centres in Odisha from 7 am today.

As per previous announcements, mobile phones, wristwatches, electronic devices, pens, papers, books, bottles etc were not allowed inside the examination centres.
