Bhubaneswar: The first meeting of the newly formed Agriculture Cabinet will be held on Thursday at the State Secretariat here.

A host of proposals aimed at improving the state of agriculture and the lot of farmers in the state will be discussed in the meeting which will be chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, sources said.

The meeting will be attended by ministers of Agriculture, Finance, Revenue, Cooperation, Water resources, Energy, Consumer Welfare and Panchayatiraj.

Earlier, ministers of 10 departments were included in the Agriculture Cabinet. On Wednesday, the state government added Revenue minister in the newly-formed Cabinet.

Notably, the Agriculture Cabinet would deal with subjects like self-sufficiency in food grain production, employment creation, infusion of technology in agriculture sector, uncertainty in price index, raising the income of farmers and investment in the agriculture sector.
