6-hour bandh cripples normal life in Deogarh

Deogarh:  Normal life has been affected in Deogarh due to a six-hour bandh called by district Congress against the anti-tribal policy of the Odisha government on Friday.

Protesting anti-poor and anti-tribal policies and demanding homestead land to the landless and forest land patta to the tribals, locals backed by the district Congress took out rally and staged demonstration near old post office chhak.

As the agitators staged road blockade, movement of vehicular traffic on National Highway particularly on Mumbai- Kolkata route was also affected.

All the shops, educational institutions remained closed in Deogarh, it created problems particularly for the commuters and passengers who were seen stranded at several places in the town.

Several Congress leaders and activists were taken into preventive custody by police to maintain law and order during the observance of the bandh.
