2 minor boys drown in pond in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, two minors drowned in a pond at Santarapur village under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district.

The deceased have been identified as Swagat Mallick and Samarjeet Mallick.

As per reports, the two boys were playing near the pond when they slipped into deep waters and drowned.

Though both of them were rescued by the locals and rushed to Tihidi Community Health Centre, doctors declared them dead.

A relative of the deceased said "I was at the shop in Tihidi when they informed me about the mishap. When I reached, both of them were dead."

"Both the children fell into the pond while playing. Later they were rescued and admitted to the hospital but doctors declared them dead," said another relative.

Following the mishap, a pall of gloom has descended on the village.

Earlier last week, in a string of unfortunate incidents, three women and three minor boys had drowned in separate places across Odisha.
