2 killed, 7 injured by lightning strikes in Odisha

Kendrapara/Puri: As many as two persons were killed while seven others were injured by lightning strikes at different places in Odisha today.

In a tragic incident, two persons of a family were killed while two others were injured when lightning struck a country boat at Jamboo village in Kendrapara. According to sources, a woman and her daughter were killed when lightning struck them while they were fishing on a boat. The woman’s grandson and another relative were also injured in the incident. The injured duo has been admitted to the Mahakalpara hospital and their condition is stated to be stable, said sources.

Similarly, two residents of Pentha village under Marshaghai block in Kendrapara district were critically injured by a lightning strike while they were resting in house veranda. The duo was rushed to the Kendrapara district headquarters hospital.

Moreover, three of a family were injured when lightning struck their house at Bibhutipur village under Kakatpur block of Puri district today.

The injured, identified as Kailash Sahu, his wife and daughter, were rushed to the Kakatpur Community Health Center and later shifted to the Charichhak Community Health centre. According to sources, the lightning strike was so powerful that the roof of the house cracked under its impact.
