Bhubaneswar: A total of 1265 nominations were filed for the upcoming civic polls to 20 urban local bodies (ULBs) in the districts of Western Odisha by Tuesday afternoon, said official sources here. However, no one has filed papers in Bolangir and Titilagarh ULBs despite the deadline for filing of nominations came to a close on Tuesday.
 
"We will issue a notification for civic polls in both these ULBs later," said Ajit Tripathy, State Election Commission (SEC).
 
Supporting the members of the Bolangir Bar Association no candidate of any political party filed nomination for the civic polls. The bar association had earlier decided to boycott the polls to press their demand for High Court bench in Bolangir.
 
Similarly, people of Titilagarh town said no to the poll demanding district status.
 
Sources added, in the last day of nominations, 696 aspirants submitted their papers at the municipal and NAC offices.
 
In Brajrajnagar municipality highest number of 127  nomination papers were filed while in Barapali lowest number of 36 aspirants filed papers in the NAC office.
 
The scrutiny of nominations will be done on November 7 while the last date for withdrawal of papers is on November 11.
