Kendrapara/Angul/Khurda: One person was killed and four injured during the Bahuda Yatra at different places across Odisha today.

In a tragic mishap, an elderly person was killed after falling off a chariot during the Bahuda Yatra in Pattamundai of Kendrapara district.

The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Jena of Alabha village. He reportedly fell off the Patitapabana chariot during the Bahuda and died on the spot after coming under wheels of the chariot.

In another incident, a volunteer was left critically injured when a plank of wood fell on him during chariot pulling in Pallahara in Angul district. He was rushed to the Pallahara hospital following the mishap.

Meanwhile, three persons were injured following a group clash during chariot pulling in Banpur of Khurda district. One of the injured was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated, informed sources.

A platoon of police was deployed by the district administration to bring the situation under control and prevent any untoward incident.  Senior police officials have reached the spot and are keeping a tight vigil on the situation, informed sources.
