New Delhi: The BJP on Thursday said it was too early to react to the Karnataka Lokayukta report on illegal mining, which has indicted Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, and asked the Congress to first take action against those named in the Shunglu Committee and Delhi Lokayukta report.

“The Shunglu Committee had indicted the Sheila Dikshit Government in the Commonwealth Games and the Delhi Lokayukta had recommended to the President that action should be taken against her minister Rajkumar Chauhan in the Tivoli Garden case. Nothing has been done in these two cases. Congress should first respond to this,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said here.

He said the party will wait for the report on illegal mining in the state to be made public before coming out with any reaction.

Lokayukta Santosh Hegde has recommended a probe into Mr. Yeddyurappa’s role and that of his four ministerial colleagues with regard to illegal mining in the State.

The report, which is to be submitted soon, has also sought an investigation into the role of former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anil Lad.

Sources have said the four Ministers who were named in the report are: G. Janardhana Reddy, G. Karunakara Reddy, B. Sriramulu, all hailing from the mineral-rich Bellary district, and V. Somanna.
