Six held for misbehaving with Iranian tourist

Puri: Konark Police on Monday arrested six youths for allegedly misbehaving with an Iranian woman tourist at Sun Temple in Konark. The arrested youths hail from Odia Bazar area and Diwan Bazar area in Cuttack.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon when Mahdiyen Sadat Mir-Habib was on a visit to the historic heritage along with her friend Md Raza, both students of architecture at Jamia Milia Islamia University of Delhi, police informed.

The arrested youths allegedly tried to take snaps of the woman and misbehaved with her. They were even opposed by Mahdiyen’s friend Raza as they misbehaved her. But the situation turned worse following a heated argument and a scuffle between Raza and the youths.

However, the youths were arrested subsequently arrested by the police.

On the other hand, chief accused Y. Govind has rubbed the charges and has said that he was arrested because he had captured a snap of the woman.

“I had only taken a snap of the woman,” chief accused Y. Govind said.

Earlier, in a similar case police had arrested one youth for allegedly molesting a woman from Britain at Konark Yatri Nivas in December last year.
