Bhubaneswar: A girl, believed to be a close friend of deceased Ashutosh Mohanty (Rishi) on Thursday met Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) over the death of the engineering student.

Sources said, she was accompanied by her mother and some social activists.

Though details of their discussion in not known, it is believed that she spoke with the Commission regarding Rishi’s death, which has become the talk of the town for past couple of days.

The girl’s move came barely few hours after the Commissionerate police informed the media that it has identified the girlfriend of Rishi and will soon interrogate her regarding the video which was allegedly shot by her. National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) state unit head Itish Prashan had claimed that Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Anant Narayan Jena was in the video in a compromising position with a lady.

“We have identified the girlfriend of Rishi. We will soon interrogate her as she is believed to have more information about the video”, said Police Commissioner YB Khurania.

In a related development, Sourav Nanda, the hostel-mate of Rishi, for the first time appeared before the media. Talking to newsmen he said that investigation must be done to bring out the real culprit behind the whole episode.

“I must say that a thorough investigation must be initiated so that the truth should come out”, Nanda stated. He however parried question when asked about the drugs they allegedly took on that fateful night. It was reported that Rishi had died due to drug overdose.

Meanwhile, demanding resignation of the Mayor and a CBI probe into the death of Rishi and the sex scandal video, the Mahila Congress staged a demonstration in front of the BMC office here today. While the Congress Bhubaneswar District Committee has been sitting on a dharna in front of the BMC office demanding for the same since last eight days, the Mahila Congress joined the stir today. They too burnt the effigies of Jena and chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
