Bhubaneswar: Section 144 was clamped near the CBI office today after Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) activists clashed with the police here alleging vested interest by political parties behind the arrest of party legislator Prabhat Biswal.

Early in the morning, members of the BCJD activists took out a bike rally from Cuttack and reached CBI office here to stage a demonstration. They sat on a dharna in front of the investigating agency’s office here alleging that the CBI is being utilised to settle political scores. Later they fought a pitched battle with the police.

Meanwhile, Prabhat Biswal’s brother Arta Ranjan questioned the grounds on which the legislator has been arrested by CBI.  ‘’He is ready to serve jail sentence if proven guilty,’’ he stated.

On the other hand, sources at the CBI stated the legislator was questioned by the SIT DIG Manish Kumar Sinha over money transfer to the former’s bank accounts during the second day of CBI remand.

Besides, Biswal was also questioned on the money he transferred to the account of one Rajalaxmi Jena, sources added.

The CBI had yesterday evening raided three places associated with the legislator.
