Ghaziabad: Former BJP President and a local MP Rajnath Singh will observe a day-long hunger strike on May 13 here to protest against the increasing crime rate and lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh, BJP said on Sunday.

Singh will be joined by several party workers and leaders on May 13, BJP western UP media-in-charge Sardar S P Singh said.

Singh, who was here yesterday, criticised Ghaziabad police for being inactive and was concerned about the security of industrialists and traders, he said.

Singh considers it very serious that the murder case of jeweller Atul Gupta and chairman of a private engineering college S C Gupta could not be solved by city police, Sardar said.

The next course of action against the Ghaziabad administration will be decided on May 13, Sardar said.
