Puri: Invalidating the opposition made by some groups over setting up of a temple to offer prayers to Maa Bimala goddess in the premises of Puri Govardhan Peetha, Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati and Puri king Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb today said there should not be any misunderstanding over worship of the deity in the peetha.

Swami Nischalananda Saraswati said while the goddess is offered prayers as per Bamachara rituals at the Srimandir, at the peetha Maa Bimala is being worshipped in the form of Parama Vaishnavi and according to Dakhinachara rituals.

Expressing similar views, Dibyasingha Deb stated, “If more temples of Sri Jagannath and Maa Bimala are built elsewhere, the importance and tradition of original peetha of the deity will not be tarnished in any way.”

There should not be any row over establishment of a new temple of the goddess at the Govardhan Peetha, the Puri king added.
