Acting on the directive from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, two cabinet ministers from Odisha on Thursday signed the nomination paper of NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Thursday.

Water Resources, Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu nd Law Minister Jagannath Sarka have signed the nomination papers of Murmu and will be present during the filing of the nomination tomorrow.

The direction from Patnaik came after a discussion with BJP chief JP Nadda.

Earlier in the day, Murmu arrived in Delhi a day before the nomination filing for the post.

Her nomination papers are being prepared at Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi's residence, sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, and BJP president J P Nadda are among her proposers.

It is worthwhile to mention here that, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday had appealed to all members of Odisha Legislative Assembly to extend unanimous support to elect the daughter of Odisha – Draupadi Murmu to the country’s highest office.

In a tweet, Patnaik wrote, “Appeal all the members of Odisha Legislative Assembly, cutting across party lines, to extend unanimous support to elect the daughter of Odisha - Smt #DraupadiMurmu to the country’s highest office.”
