Cuttack: In a complete turnaround in the Payal Surekha murder case, the family members of the deceased who had been alleging Anant Narayan Mishra’s involvement in the gruesome murder of his wife have given a clean chit to the latter.

Earlier, the family of the Bangalore-based techie Payal, who was found murdered in the couple’s apartment on 17 December, had alleged that Anant might be involved in the killing.

Anant, however, has maintained that he was at his native place in Cuttack when Payal was murdered.

Meanwhile, in a significant development, Payal’s family members, who have reached here, changed their version and said that Anant was innocent. They maintained that whatever accusation they had leveled against him after the murder was emotional outburst.

“I feel that my son-in-law Anant is innocent. There was a healthy relationship between Payal and Anant. Whatever, I had said earlier was out of anguish over the turn out of events. Now, both the families are pursuing for justice for Payal,” said her father Din Dayal Surekha.

Meanwhile, Anant, in an exclusive interview to OTV, said that he suspected that someone else besides Choudhury James Ray was involved in the murder of his wife.

Police had earlier arrested James.

“I have reasons to believe that a woman had abetted James in the crime,” Anant said.

It may be mentioned here that James was working as a fitness instructor in Anant’s gymnasium and was sacked allegedly due to his bad conduct. Enraged over the termination of his service, James had gone to Bangalore and killed Anant’s wife, Payal to take revenge.
