New Delhi:  BJP supported by other Opposition parties, today forced adjournment of Rajya Sabha disallowing it to conduct substantive business for third consecutive day in protest against appointment of Lokayukuta in Gujarat by the Governor without consulting the state government.

The Upper House, which had a heavy legislative business on its agenda, saw repeated adjournments before Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan adjourned it for the day at 2 PM.

BJP members rushed into the well shouting slogans like "Samvidhan ka ulanghan nahi chalega, nahi chalega (Violation of Constitution will not be tolerated)," while members from Shiv Sena, JD-U, Left parties, AIADMK and TDP closed ranks and were on their feet in support of BJP`s protest.

The BJP has been disrupting the House since August 30 accusing Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal of acting without the aid and advice of the state Cabinet while appointing R A Mehta as Lokayukta. The BJP has demanded recall of the Governor.

As the House met for the day at 11 AM, BJP members rushed into the well even before Chairman Hamid Ansari could settle in his seat.

"Please go back. This is Question Hour," he remarked as BJP members raised slogans. With the din continuing, Ansari adjourned the House till noon.

When the House reassembled, similar scenes were witnessed.

While the BJP members were leading the protest from the well shouting slogans, they were supported by other opposition members, who were on their feet.

After laying of papers, Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan adjourned the House till 2 PM. But the House could not run even after 2 PM as the Opposition was unrelenting.
