Several passengers had a close shave after a ‘Mo Bus’ caught fire in Rourkela on Saturday. The bus was en-route to Vedvyas from Rourkela when the mishap occurred.

As per initial reports, the Mo Bus caught fire near TCI Square due to some technical glitch. After noticing the smoke, all the passengers got down from the bus. A major tragedy was averted as all the passengers got down from the bus which was completely gutted within minutes.

The incident occurred between 10 am and 10:30 am today. Sources said some passengers noticed smoke from the driver’s cabin and alerted the driver.

Around 10 passengers were on board the Mo Bus when the fire mishap occurred. A team of Odisha Fire Services personnel immediately rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) launched the Mo Bus services in Odisha’s Rourkela city in January this year. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had flagged off a fleet of 30 buses ahead of the inauguration of Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium which co-hosted the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023.
