Mumbai: A convention of birdwatchers has been organised here from January 13 to create awareness about bird observation and conservation among different age groups. The 25th `Maharashtra Pakshimitra Sammelan`, organised by Ashwamedh Pratishthan, a voluntary organisation, will be held at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in suburban Borivali.

The central theme of the three-day event is the `bird biodiversity of Mumbai metropolitan region`. The aim of the convention is to create awareness about bird observation and conservation among different age groups. Seveal programmes, including drawing competition for school students, photography competition and workshop, have also been arranged, the organisers said.

Besides this, a taxidermy workshop and bird watching program has been arranged. Registration for the convention has started and forms can be downloaded from www.25thpakshimitra.org website.
