Sambalpur: Miscreants broke open and looted over Rs 2 lakh from an ATM machine of a nationalised bank at Sonepur, police said on Wednesday.

The miscreants broke open a ATM machine of Punjab National Bank near Gangadhar Square of Sonepur last night and the incident was reported by the sweeper today.

Empty boxes used for Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes were found from an open field at a distance from the counter, the police said.

Senior police officers visited the spot.

Police are investigating the case with help from forensic experts.
