Bhubaneswar: Maoist rebels on Thursday killed four persons in the Maoist-infested districts in the state. While two villagers had been hacked to death at Kashipur in Rayagada suspecting them to be police informers, two security personnel have been shot dead at Anakadeli in Koraput.

As per reports, the rebels dragged the two villagers from their homes and hacked them with sharp weapons at Karanjamandi village.

The two deceased have been identified as the husband of the Sarpanch of Godibali panchayat, Kailash Majhi, and Sashi Majhi of Dhobisil village. In the incident, another villager identified as Sina Sahu was also injured.

Police recovered Maoist leaflets saying the two villagers have been killed as they were acting as police informers.

In another incident, two security personnel, a constable and a homeguard, have been shot dead by the extremists. The deceased--Bala Tikiri (constable) and Binod Hantal (homeguard) were attacked while they were returning to Machkund police station from Anakadeli market. The Red rebels were hiding near a Shiva temple and executed the crime.

On the other hand, three out of five villagers allegedly abducted by the Maoists from Poteru village under MV-79 police limits have returned home today. Though the whereabouts of the two villagers are still to be traced, the motive behind the abduction is yet to be ascertained.
